Enchanted Backpack, a charitable organization serving under-resourced elementary and middle schools and child-focused organizations in the Chicagoland area, stopped by Worth Elementary last May. Their mobile van delivered donated a load full of school supplies, recess supplies such as games, balls, and chalk; personal student items such as deodorant; and student incentive items like stickers and coloring books. We were able to fill up the art room with all the boxes and bags that were generously donated!
Out of the schools that Enchanted Backpack visits with the Mobile Van deliveries, they choose one or two to become an Adopt-a-School participant in which they join with the school to fund facility needs up to $20,000. While we were not chosen to become one, their board of directors decided to make an exception and gave us a $10,000 grant. No one else has ever been offered this before! The check was presented to the Worth School District 127 Board of Education during its regular meeting on Wednesday, November 13. Ideas are currently being thought of on how to spend this money to improve Worth Elementary.
