From the Superintendent: Erin’s Law Presentations Scheduled for the Week of February 10
January 15, 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians:

I am writing to notify you of the upcoming Erin’s Law presentation. Erin’s Law requires Illinois schools to implement an age-appropriate sexual assault and abuse awareness and prevention curriculum. This year, we have once again invited Childhood Victories to visit our students to discuss the skills they need to stay safe from dangerous or abusive situations.

The concepts that will be discussed are:

  • Distinguishing safe from unsafe touches.
  • Safety rules at home and school.
  • Saying “NO.”
  • Safe/Unsafe Secrets.
  • It’s not the child’s fault if someone touches him or her.
  • Knowing when to talk to a trusted adult.

A representative from Childhood Victories will be visiting Worth School District the week of February 10: visiting Worth Elementary on Monday, February 10th; Worth Junior High on Tuesday, February 11th; and Worthwoods Elementary on February 12th.

In addition, all Worth School District 127 parents are invited to attend a parent information night on Monday, February 3rd at 7 pm at Worth Junior High in order to learn more about the presentation. For more information on “Be Seen & Be Heard,” I encourage you to visit the program’s website: www.victorpacini.com.

Illinois law allows parents to opt their children out from participating in an Erin’s Law presentation. You can download an opt-out form here that should be returned to your child’s school office if you do not want your child to participate in the “Be Seen & Be Heard” presentation. This form is due by Friday, February 7, 2020.

If you have any questions about the Erin’s Law presentations, please feel free to contact me at (708) 448-2800.

Sincerely,

Dr. Mark T. Fleming, Superintendent
Worth School District #127
