Class of 2020 Graduation Plans
April 24, 2020

Dear 8th Grade Parents/Guardians,

I would like to start by expressing my genuine disappointment for you and the members of Worth Junior High School’s Class of 2020 for not being able to experience the traditional 8th grade end of the year celebrations and graduation. However, the administration, faculty and staff of Worth Junior High School are committed to ensuring that our 8th graders have the best graduation experiences possible despite school being closed for the remainder of the school year. I would like to share with you the plans that are currently in the works in order to make that happen.

To start, Worth School District 127 has already ordered and will pay for the Class of 2020’s caps, gowns, and graduation ribbons. We are also ordering at no cost to you this year’s graduation tee shirts for all of our 8th graders. Once the tee shirts, caps, gowns, and ribbons arrive, we will develop a plan to distribute them to our graduates and inform you how that will occur. In addition, the school district has ordered lawn/window signs to recognize our graduates that will be distributed to families and/or homes sometime later this spring.

This past week, a graduation committee consisting of Worth Junior High School’s administration and staff has been formed and has started discussing ideas on how to best celebrate our Class of 2020’s graduation on the originally scheduled date of Wednesday, June 3rd. The goal will be to plan for a meaningful graduation celebration that complies with mandates provided by local and state authorities in the safest possible manner. Once Worth Junior High School’s graduation committee finalizes a plan of what graduation will look like, we will share this information with you in order to give you the opportunity to provide feedback.

Although this year’s graduating class will not be able to celebrate the end of 8th grade year and graduation in a traditional manner, all of us at Worth Junior High School are dedicated to doing whatever is necessary to make our 8th graders’ graduation experience as special and celebratory as possible despite the circumstances. Feel free to contact me at jzampillo@worthschools.org for any questions you may have. In the meantime, stay safe, stay healthy and I will be in touch soon with more information.

Sincerely

Joseph V. Zampillo, Ed.D.
