Introduction
Sooner or later you will have to choose a career. What factors will influence your choice? Will your choice be based on interest, education, job opportunities or location? Only you will decide where the road will the road will take you. But the time to begin is now.

2. Look at the career choices that align with your interests and abilities. Do any of these appeal to you? Click on the careers of your choice to find additional information about each.
3. Choose a career and complete the topic choice worksheet. This is due on

4. Now it is time to begin you career research. Using three different sources (one must be a book), locate the following information which will be placed on note cards. Note cards will be due on ________________
Nature of work
· Explain the types of work a person who enters this career field might do
Include all the responsibilities of the career
· Identify all jobs that can be performed
· Explain qualities a good candidate for this career possesses
Working conditions
Explain the types of conditions you might encounter
Where will your work be done/ why?
Where might your job take you?
Education & Training
· How do you prepare for this career?
· What courses should you take in high school? College prep? Industrial Arts? Technology training?
· What kind of GPA do you need to maintain?
· What college or place of training offers the program you need? Where is it located?
· What will you major in?
· How long will the program take?
· What is the cost of tuition? If you have to stay there, what is the cost of room & board?
Working & your career
· What might your starting salary be? How can you increase your salary?
· Is there a way to advance in your career?
· What are the job opportunities ? Are there opportunities for advancement?
What is the employment outlook for the future?
· What are the benefits? (personal & professional)
· What are the drawbacks? (personal & professional)

5. Once your information is complete, you may choose to present your findings to the class in the following ways:
An Oral presentation using a Visual Board: You will prepare and give an oral five-minute presentation and create a visual summary of your information. (examples will be shown in class)
An Oral presentation using a brochure: You will prepare and give an oral five-minute presentation and create an informational tri-fold brochure explaining your chosen profession summary of your information. (examples will be shown in class).
A Hyperstudio presentation: Using a hyperstudio presentation format, you will orally present your information using a minimum of 15 slides, includes graphics, and has no more than 6 lines on a page.
Interview I Movie: you will present your information in the form of a mock interview. Questions will be developed from the points you have researched.
Evaluation
You will complete a self-evaluation and your projects will be evaluated using one of the following rubrics.

Conclusion
This project is more than an assignment. It is a tool that you can use to investigate your career options. As a result you should have a better understanding of how your interests and abilities will relate to a future career.
